Neuro-affirming counselling for children and teens

At Infinity Psychology & Assessments, our experienced psychologists support children and adolescents in a gentle and flexible manner for a range of challenges, transitions, and mental health difficulties. When working with neurodivergent young people, we aim to build safety, confidence, and self‑understanding. We don’t shame, pressure, or attempts to “normalise” them.

What can our psychologists help children and teens with?

Our psychologists support children and teenagers with:

  • Anxiety (generalised, social, panic, phobias, OCD)

  • Depression and low mood

  • Emotional awareness and regulation

  • Stress, burnout, and anger

  • Socialising and relating to others

  • Self-esteem and self-understanding

  • Navigating identity and feeling misunderstood

  • School can’t and attendance difficulties (“refusal”)

How is our approach neurodiversity-affirming?

We support children and teenagers of all neurotypes (both neurodivergent and neurotypical). Working in a neurodiversity-affirming way means that we:

  • understand the importance of the client’s individual experiences, and use these to guide goals and therapy approach

  • take communication and sensory preferences into consideration during sessions

  • do not use compliance-focused methods that focus on masking, hiding, or changing an individual’s unique qualities
