Neurodiversity-affirming counselling
We offer counselling and therapy for children, teenagers, and adults. Our psychologists understand that seeking counselling can often feel daunting, particularly if previous experiences have left clients feeling misunderstood or pathologised.
Who do we support?
Infinity Psychology & Assessments offers counselling and therapy for children, teenagers, and adults. We might be a good fit if you are:
neurodivergent (autistic, ADHD) – formally diagnosed, self-identified, or late-identified
questioning whether you may be neurodivergent
high masking, AFAB, or identify as LGBTQIA+
We also welcome neurotypical clients who are seeking general mental health support, or who are supporting a neurodivergent family member or loved one.
How do we approach counselling?
Autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent experiences are part of the natural diversity of being human. Being your neurodivergent self is not something we seek to change, but we understand that existing in a world that may not be accommodating for someone who is neurodivergent is often a source of stress, anxiety, and frustration. By working in a neurodiversity-affirming manner we value the importance of an individual’s experiences, and use these to guide the therapeutic approach. We also take communication and sensory needs into consideration, and never use compliance-focused methods or those which encourage being inauthentic.
Our psychologists use and adapt a range of therapy models to be more suitable to the person they are working with, including techniques from cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).
What happens in counselling?
Counselling sessions typically run for 50 minutes to 1 hour in length, and might occur weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or on an ad-hoc basis. You will discuss your concerns with your psychologist, and develop goals and a plan together to best meet your needs.
Please see our Fees & FAQs page for more information about session fees, referrals, and other common questions.
