Psychological assessments
Infinity Psychology & Assessments offers diagnostic assessments with our experienced team of educational & developmental and clinical psychologists. Our approach is transparent and collaborative, and we can assist in answering a range of referral questions to address your goals and needs.
Depending on the complexity of the query, 3 to 5 face-to-face sessions may be required. This usually includes an interview session, 1 to 3 sessions of standardised testing, and a feedback session in which the psychologist will explain the results and answer any questions. You will receive a comprehensive written report or brief summary letter with information about the assessment, its results, and targeted recommendations and strategies to provide support for the future. One or more diagnostic queries may be investigated within the same assessment.
We provide assessments for adults or children (6+), which can explore:
Autism (sometimes known as ‘autism spectrum disorder’ or ‘ASD’)
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention differences
Learning difficulties, including specific learning disorders (‘SLDs’) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia
Cognitive functioning (commonly known as intelligence testing or IQ testing), including intellectual disability or high intellectual potential (‘giftedness’)
Functional capacity (e.g., evidence for NDIS) and adaptive skills (e.g., daily living skills, communication and socialisation)
Social or emotional functioning
For adults, we offer an option of brief assessment (with a summary letter) for autism or combined autism/ADHD, if a comprehensive assessment is not required. Please refer to the adult autism assessment information and our Fees & FAQs page for further information.
Please note: We do not provide court reports, forensic or capacity assessments, or assessments of acquired/traumatic brain injuries.
Assessment Fees & Rebates
Please see our Fees & FAQs page for current assessment fees.
Fees will depend on the query and the complexity of the assessment – for example, if fewer sessions are required (such as if a previous assessment has recently occured), or if many queries are combined into one assessment (e.g., assessing autism, ADHD, and learning all together). In these cases, we will discuss a custom plan and can adjust the price accordingly. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs for assessment.
Some Medicare rebates may be available with a ‘Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders’ (CND) referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist for clients who under 25 years old. If you have a paediatrician or psychiatrist, please enquire with them about this type of referral.
Please note: Mental Health Care Plans (usually provided by a GP) cannot be used towards psychological assessments, and are only valid for rebates on counselling sessions.
